Now that we have a rough rough cut put together, we have set a goal of September 15 for "Have Your Cake" to be completed. There are some great local festivals coming up that would be ideal for our little movie, particularly the one that features movies about bikes! Once we get everything organized and have some time to breathe, we will start thinking about having a screening for everyone involved plus friends if we can find the space. If you have a large enough apartment and a good-sized TV let me know, because Elton and I don't really have either.
Also, good news on the budget front. We have raised $1070, enough to cover our production costs with enough left over for festival fees and other post-production expenses. We were able to spend less than anticipated, since we ended up borrowing the camera from a friend, and we didn't have to pay for the empty helium tank.
Have I mentioned how great the footage looks? Elton has been hard at work editing, and it is so exciting to see the story coming together. We have learned a lot about the things we did right, and the things we will do better next time (rent a monitor!). The sound and light quality are really impressive - we obviously found the right people for the jobs. Laura is working on a second song for us to use and I am looking forward to seeing how the music enhances the movie.
